Darkness…THX certified surround sound…A throaty cough…Metaphor? Foreshadowing? A person sitting behind me in the movie theater? It’s all valid presumption before any visual image is flashed on the screen, but one thing is for certain, this isn’t “Outbreak” and I may need to disinfect myself when it is done.

Although not local, the film that kicked off the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival was from Cuban Directors Fernando Trueba, Javier Mariscal & Tono Errando. Chico & Rita brought with it a distinctive visual style, rotoscoped animation & music to waft you away into yesteryear–it’s tale though… that bit is as old as time.
