Presentation of the Research Agenda into the Creative and Culture

Art, Cultural

Date 17th Sep 2014   Comments No Comments »

The significance of the Arts and Cultural Industries in Trinidad and Tobago Blue Print of Trinidad Carnival was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Wednesday 17th September from 9am-2pm.

In 2013, the Ministry of the Arts and Multiculturalism commissioned Dr. Suzanne Burke to conduct a study of the Cultural Industries as a means to developing baseline data which would inform the strategies for the development of the sector. The Ministry of the Arts and Multiculturalism as a major player in the development of the Creative Sector recognised the need for this information as an important precursor to successful planning and development of the sector.

The study included an analysis of festivals, facilities for creative presentations, an entrepreneurial and trade association’s analysis and GIS Mapping of the sector which was presented by Dr. Bhesem Ramlal. Dr. Burke has completed the work and the Ministry hosted the presentation of these findings on Wednesday 17th September 2014. The Ministry also took the opportunity to present its Blueprint of a Trinidad Style Carnival for distribution to interested partners in Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival Enterprise.
